I simply love the idea of dragons and I thought Paolini’s concept of the Dragon Riders was very well developed. The narrative style is captivating and almost believable, although wordy at times it is clear Paolini put a lot of thought and love into this book. Eragon is a wonderful story, very enchanting and it’s perfect for the slightly younger reader or someone whose just dipping their toes into the pool that is fantasy fiction. In 2003 Eragon was one of the best selling audiobooks. The story is enjoyable and fills the ears with memorable characters, witty dialogue and some great battle scenes. The Eragon audiobook is widely regarded as the beginning of the best dragon book series available. I would recommend this audiobook for driving when you have all the family in the car and you need something to distract them with. The plot is choppy at times, but bear in mind, Paolini wrote this when he was 15. I wouldn’t recommend it to Tolkien fans who will certainly recognise most of Paolini’s plot ideas have been taken from Lord of the Rings. Overnight, his simple life is shattered and with only an ancient sword and an old storyteller for guidance, he is thrust into a perilous new world.įor anyone wanting to encourage their children to listen to audiobooks, Eragon is a great place to start. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy as old as the empire itself. When Eragon finds a polished stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy.

Lupin was created as the criminal mirror to Sherlock Holmes. Reformed, he also moonlights as a detective, solving crimes that the police can’t figure out. No one knows what he truly looks like, as he’s always in disguise. This happens when he interacts with other members of law enforcement, oftentimes getting into trouble even if he didn’t intend it. Pretty much the prototype for the gentleman thief, Arsene Lupin is a suave, intellectually gifted, and accomplished thief. Even if the law does not approve of his methods. Just like him, the protagonist resorts to vigilante activities in order to make the world a better place. His true name is Arsène Lupin and was known as a master of disguise. While fighting for good, he would use methods that didn’t agree with the law. Arsène falls into the Gentleman Thief archetype with his trademark Gallic style and panache. He targeted criminals or those who were worse criminals than himself. Using the tricks of fictional gentleman thief Arsne Lupin, featured in a series of books by Maurice Leblanc, Assane robs, kidnaps, and connives his way into getting justice for his father. Cover, title and synopsis did not come into play on this read. This book was chosen to read by me solely on who the author was. HARLAN COBEN actually made me feel that Will was talking directly to me, the reader! Will Klein was my favourite character as I felt for him and was rooting for him. I thought that I was given enough information on each character that it was easy to follow along with them and the storyline. I found that it was so entertaining and fast-paced that I didn't even want to guess the outcome even though I can now see that we were given a few clues. The plot was filled with lots of twists at a surprising speed that kept me totally engaged in what I was reading. Most of the chapters were nice and short with most having some type of revelation to keep you interested and wanting to keep turning those pages. I really like this authors writing style and his dialogue is terrific throughout this novel. GONE FOR GOOD has so many surprising twists and turns to make it another most enjoyable read by HARLAN COBEN which gets a 4.5 star rating from me! They will have a satyr companion, and Meg knows just who to call upon. There is one glimmer of hope in the gloom-filled prophecy: The cloven guide alone the way does know. While Leo flies ahead on Festus to warn the Roman camp, Lester and Meg must go through the Labyrinth to find the third emperor-and an Oracle who speaks in word puzzles-somewhere in the American Southwest. Apollo, an awesome god turned awkward mortal, journeys across North America with some demigod friends on his quest to regain Zeus's favor in Book Two of Rick Riordan's uproarious Trials of Apollo series. With the help of some demigod friends, Lester managed to survive his first two trials, one at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy. But he has to achieve this impossible task without having any godly powers and while being duty-bound to a confounding young daughter of Demeter named Meg. In order to regain his place on Mount Olympus, Lester must restore five Oracles that have gone dark. The formerly glorious god Apollo, cast down to earth in punishment by Zeus, is now an awkward mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. A good sign for the authors and publishers, agreed just not such a great deal for those of us that like to look at the complete series on our bookshelves and see continuity. Although I was just the teensiest bit perturbed at the fact that the initial release for new books in this series have been switched to hardbacks. In addition, the series is under contract through book 9. Looks like it’s going to be absolutely fabulous too. Not only is the series really good, the SyFy channel picked it up for a TV series and they’re spending oodles of money on it (more than they’ve spent on any other series before). Abraham and Franck really have a good thing going for them with this series. Couldn’t wait to get back to Jim Holden and the crew of the Rocinante. I was really excited when I got this book in the mail (which was forever ago, granted.
